Select Sires
July 11th, 2009 , by BJEI am happy to have had the opportunity to work with Select Sires on the development of their new website. The PrimeTime AgriMarketing staff did a great job of pulling this website together. I worked with PrimeTime on this project editing many hours of sire and progeny video footage into the clips you see on their new site. (We did not do the intro video on the home page - but I must say it looks great!)
Be sure to check it out at their new domain: www.selectsiresbeef.com !
There are tons of neat features on the site - including the Select-A-Sire, which lets you sort bulls based on your own criteria for each trait and the Individual Trait Sort, which allows you to sort and compare sires based on their data for each individual EPD.
Nikon School
June 14th, 2009 , by BJEThis weekend, I spent some time in my old stomping grounds in Kansas City, Mo. Nikon School was the reason for the trip, and it was well worth the time and money. Lots of new tips and some great teachers highlighted the weekend event. I'm waiting on my plane back to Columbus right now. Uh Oh - they are calling for the gate! I had better run! I'll pass some of the tips/hints I learned this weekend on to you ASAP!
Off to the races!
June 12th, 2009 , by BJEHopefully you've been following my posts on Twitter. If so, I hope you enjoyed the Iowa Adventure segment last week. Unfortunately, it was all true. Even the ovine traffic jam on I-80.
It's time for us to get rolling again looking toward the fall, and the first big event on the tableis the Ohio State Junior Fair Swine Show sponsorship auction. The auction will be online at www.showpig.com on Wednesday, June 17.
We've all heard the stories of the Extension program cuts across the state of Ohio. Thankfully, our youth have a leadership that is plannig forward for the future of the Ohio State Junior Fair Swine Show. The auction of sponsor advertising opportunities will provide funds to ensure the security of the OSF swine shows and also make some technological improvements to the show facility. These improvements will, for this year, include video monitors displaying class placings, class in the ring and class on deck.
Check out the auction opportunities and support the future of the Ohio State Fair.
World Pork Expo
June 2nd, 2009 , by BJEThis weekend I am off to the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa. I'll have at least one night in town to eat at the Machine Shed, which has got me pretty excited. Other than that, there's a crossbred boar that will be in attendance that is pretty exciting too. Check out this boar from Team Sloan Livestock, Cameron, Mo. He'll be in the Honor Show Feeds display tent at the expo.
